Menengai Crater & Caves
An excellent hike in this area is to the rim of Menengai Crater, high over Nakuru town. This huge volcanic crater is 12km across and 500m deep. It is possible to climb up to the craters edge (2272m) with spectacular views from the top. The hike is normally 7-10kms and should take about 6 hours to the crater and back from Nakuru. Menengai Crater is an extinct volcano with striking views of Lake Nakuru, the geothermal plants as well as the crater itself. The site offers excellent hiking opportunity, scenic site, hot springs, geysers, mud pots among others.
Come enjoy an amazing day out on one of Rift Valley’s most scenic sites and enjoy the climb up to the crater and descend to the floor of the crater and back. It’s an opportunity to shed off the week long stress with an early morning hike as you make new friends and tick off your bucket list.
